It Is Too Soon To Know
The word for Monday, September 7, 2026 is It Is Too Soon To Know.
The anchor verses are Nahum 1:7 and Exodus 3:7.
Just before two o'clock yesterday afternoon, a cargo plane came off the end of a runway in Miami.
Prime Air Flight 7598, a Boeing 767-300 operated by 21 Air for Amazon, had arrived from San Juan, Puerto Rico. It overran Runway 30 at Miami International Airport, crossed a road outside the runway area, struck multiple vehicles, and caught fire.
As of this morning, at least five people are dead. Five more were injured, three critically.
More than sixty Miami-Dade Fire Rescue units answered the crash. Crews fought fire, dealt with leaking fuel, and rescued people from the aircraft and vehicles.
The airport stopped operations for hours.
By Sunday night, officials still could not say publicly whether the people who died had been aboard the aircraft or in the vehicles it struck.
Their names had not been released.
That is where this Word has to begin.
It is too soon to know.
Not only the cause. Even some of the most basic facts that families, investigators, reporters, and strangers want to put in order are still being established.
Federal investigators are on scene. No cause has been determined. There will be time for evidence, timelines, recordings, wreckage, weather, procedure, and every other question an investigation has to answer.
This morning is not that time.
Too soon to know is not a failure of courage. Sometimes it is the most truthful sentence available. Investigators say it because evidence takes time. Families live inside it because notification takes time. Faith does not require us to turn uncertainty into certainty before the facts arrive. It can leave a question open without leaving GOD out of the room.
And this Word will not supply the other answer people reach for after tragedy.
GOD did not arrange a runway overrun to teach somebody something. There is no lesson hidden inside a burning aircraft or a crushed vehicle. A family waiting for a name, a condition, or an explanation does not need somebody assigning divine purpose to the worst hours of their life.
Nahum gives something narrower and sturdier.
The LORD is good, a strong hold in the day of trouble; and he knoweth them that trust in him.
The day of trouble is still there.
Nahum does not say the stronghold prevents the day from arriving. He does not say the day will make sense by morning. He says GOD is good inside it, and that HE knows those who take refuge in HIM.
Knows them.
That word matters today because the public does not yet know the names of the dead.
GOD does not wait for a news conference.
GOD does not learn a name when an official releases it. HE does not need the manifest, the medical examiner, or the investigation before a life is known to HIM.
Exodus says something similar at the burning bush.
GOD tells Moses that HE has seen the affliction of HIS people. HE has heard their cry. And HE says, *for I know their sorrows.*
Seen. Heard. Known.
Scripture does not describe GOD as receiving a distant report and filing it away. The suffering of HIS people reaches HIM personally.
That does not tell us why yesterday happened.
It tells us that yesterday did not happen outside HIS knowledge or beyond HIS presence.
GOD was not absent from that road in Miami.
HE was not absent from the cockpit, the vehicles, the fire, the trauma rooms, or the homes where phones began ringing.
And HE is not absent this morning while facts are still incomplete.
Somebody reading this remembers a call that divided life into before and after.
An ordinary day. Somebody on the way somewhere. Then a sentence you could not prepare for.
Years later, the hardest part may still be what people tried to add to it. A reason. A purpose. A sentence about what GOD must have wanted.
People often offer explanations because standing beside grief without one is difficult.
You do not owe anybody an explanation that Scripture itself does not give you.
Nahum gives you a stronghold.
Exodus gives you a GOD who sees, hears, and knows.
Neither gives you a theory of the crash.
This does not resolve anything in Miami. Investigators still have work to do. At least five people are dead. Three people were reported critically injured. Names remain withheld publicly as of this morning.
The facts will change as the investigation becomes clearer.
What does not depend on the next briefing is this:
Before the public knows every name, GOD knows every person.
Before the cause is known, their sorrow is known.
And before anybody can explain the day of trouble, GOD is already present inside it.

- 🙏 To the one who lost somebody suddenly years ago and was handed an explanation that wounded more than it helped.
