Baptism is the threshold a person crosses into a life with God in a new way. For an infant, the family is bringing a child into something larger than themselves. For an adult, the person is naming what has already been moving in them. I officiate baptisms with care, prepared with the family, anchored in scripture, and held with the right amount of weight and the right amount of joy.
Many baptisms happen in a sanctuary. Some happen outdoors. There are rivers that have been carrying water since before any of us were here, and a baptism by a river is part of the deep tradition. There are backyards, lakeshores, hospital rooms, and quiet living rooms. I am comfortable in any of these settings, and I will work with you to choose what fits the day.
The gift covers our conversation in advance, the custom liturgy I prepare, scripture chosen with you, and the baptism itself. Travel for outdoor or far-away baptisms is part of the conversation.
Rates are adjusted to reflect generally accepted standards in the area, or negotiated based on what fits the situation. The number is a starting point, not a ceiling or a floor.
Families bringing infants and young children to baptism. Adults coming to baptism for the first time. People returning to faith who want to mark that return. Anyone for whom the moment matters and who is looking for someone to hold it well.
The first step is a conversation about what you want the day to mean. From there, the liturgy and the logistics come together.
