The word for Thursday, August 13, 2026 is He Sat Down.
The anchor verses are Hebrews 10:12 and John 8:11.

Twenty three students at a university in the Netherlands spent this past year building an ambulance that runs on sunlight.
They call it Stella Juva. Five hundred forty two solar cells, most in the roof and the rest on panels that extend out when it parks. On a good day it covers around four hundred forty miles on pavement without ever plugging into anything.
The part worth knowing is what it is for.
A regular ambulance takes the patient to the hospital. This one takes the hospital to the patient.
Inside there is a portable X-ray, an ultrasound, blood testing equipment, a defibrillator, and a refrigerator that keeps vaccines cold. A health worker can screen someone for tuberculosis, run a blood test, or do a pregnancy ultrasound in the village where the person already lives. The battery keeps the equipment running after the sun goes down.
They are taking it to Kenya this month to test it, in country, over hundreds of kilometers of road that mostly is not road.
A woman from the health organization advising them said the thing that stopped me. Access to care should not depend on whether there is access to electricity or fuel.
Now go back about two thousand years to the book of Acts, to a man named Simon who worked as a magician in Samaria and was good enough at it that people called him the great power of GOD.
He watched the apostles lay hands on people, and he watched the Holy Spirit given, and he came to them with money in his hand and asked to buy the ability to do it.
Peter's answer was not gentle. Your money perish with you, because you have thought that the gift of GOD may be purchased with money.
Simon was not stupid. He was working from an assumption that most of us carry around without ever saying it out loud. Something that valuable has a price. Find out what it costs and pay it.
What he could not take in was that a gift is a gift.
Open the tenth chapter of Hebrews, where the writer describes the old system of sacrifice, and watch a detail almost nobody notices.
And every priest standeth daily ministering and offering oftentimes the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins.
Standing. Every day. The same offerings, over and over, and the writer says plainly that they never finished the job.
Then the next verse.
But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God.
Go through the instructions GOD gave for the tabernacle in Exodus. The ark. The table. The lampstand. The altar of incense. The altar of burnt offering. The basin for washing.
There is no chair listed among the furnishings.
A room built by GOD's own instruction, down to the color of the thread and the number of pomegranates on the hem of a robe, and no seat appears in the instructions.
Hebrews gives the contrast its force. The priests stand daily because the work is never finished. There was always another morning and another animal and another offering, and a priest who stood through all of it because standing is what you do when you are not finished.
Christ offered once, and sat down.
That is a posture. It is the posture of a man who has completed something and has no further appointments about it.
And the One sitting is not a priest who finally got the offering right. It is the One who was the offering. HE carried it in HIMSELF, and when it was done there was nothing left to bring back next week.
And a few verses later the writer says what it means. Now where remission of these is, there is no more offering for sin.
No more offering. Not a smaller one. Not an easier one. None.
There is a woman in the eighth chapter of John who found this out in the worst possible way. She was dragged into the temple courts in the morning and made to stand in front of everybody while men debated what should be done with her.
Jesus did not debate it. HE bent down and wrote on the ground.
Then, when everyone who had brought her had walked away, HE asked her a question and then told her the thing nobody in that courtyard expected.
Neither do I condemn thee.
She had nothing to trade. She was not asked for anything before HE said it. She had not traveled anywhere or cleaned anything up or made an offering.
You may be carrying something you have been trying to pay off for years.
Doing more. Being useful. Volunteering for the thing nobody wants. Keeping the account current in your own head, hoping that eventually the ledger clears and you can breathe.
The ledger cleared. Somebody else closed it, a long time ago, and then sat down.
I am not here to prove myself. I am here to make HIM visible.
Grace and Peace.
