This morning’s word is Hope in the Making.
The anchor verses are Proverbs 2:6 and Psalm 27:14.
There is a quiet revolution happening in the hearts of young people. An author spent six months reading hundreds of poems written by the next generation, and what they found was not despair, not cynicism, but a common thread of hope. In a world that keeps telling them they are the future, they are choosing to believe the future is worth hoping for. And in that choice they are teaching all of us something. Hope is not something we sit and wait for passively. It is something we receive from GOD and then live out, one word, one act, one heart at a time.
This is the wisdom of young hearts. It is not the wisdom of years or experience. It is the wisdom of perspective, the kind that sees the world as it is and then sees past that, to the world as it could be. This is a way of seeing that believes small things can change everything, and that understands hope is not a passive mood. Hope is an active way of living.
The Scriptures tell us that wisdom is not something we manufacture. It is something we receive. For the LORD gives wisdom, the proverb says, and from HIS mouth come knowledge and understanding. This is the kind of wisdom that does not depend on age. It comes from seeing the world through GOD’s eyes, from trusting that there is more to the story than what we can see right now. And sometimes the ones who see it most clearly are the young, the ones who have not yet been hardened by the world’s cynicism.
The young people whose poems were read have this wisdom. They have chosen to see hope where others see only despair. They have chosen to believe in a future worth living for. And in doing so, they reflect a truth that runs through all of Scripture. Hope is not merely a feeling that visits us. It is a way of life that GOD grows in us.
And hope is not passive. Wait for the LORD, the Psalm says. Be strong and take heart, and wait for the LORD. That is not a call to sit still and do nothing. It is a call to courage. To believe GOD is at work even when we cannot see it. To trust HE is leading even when the path is unclear. To hold onto hope even when the world tells us to give up. The waiting itself is active. It leans forward. It keeps showing up.
The young people whose poems were read have made this choice. They are not only waiting for hope to arrive. They are living it now. They are showing us that hope is not just something we feel on a good day. It is something we practice, received from GOD and carried into the world.
Hope is not always easy. There are days when the world feels too broken, the problems too big, the path too unclear. But hope is not the absence of struggle. It is the belief that the struggle is not the end of the story. That the hard road is leading somewhere. That GOD is at work even in the waiting, even when the work is hidden from us.
The young writers understand this. They understand that hope is not about having all the answers. It is about trusting the One who does. It is about believing that the long, hard process is being carried by GOD toward a place of peace and purpose.
And when we live this way, it does not stop with us. When we carry hope, it ripples out to people we may never meet. The young people whose poems were read are not just writing words on a page. They are planting seeds of hope in the heart of everyone who reads them. And seeds grow. They spread. They change the world, one heart at a time.
This is the quiet power of hope. It believes in a future worth living for. It trusts a GOD worth following. It points to something bigger than ourselves. And when we live inside it, we become part of GOD’s long story of redemption, a story still being written, one heart and one choice at a time.
So to the one who feels like giving up today, remember the young writers and their poems. Hope is not something you have to manufacture out of nothing. It is something GOD gives, and something you get to live. Wait for the LORD. Be strong, and take heart. The light you are waiting for is already on its way.
I am not here to prove myself. I am here to make HIM visible.
