This morning’s readings brought me to one clear line.
“For the love of Christ controls us.” 2 Corinthians 5:14
That word control can feel uncomfortable. We like freedom. We like choice. We like autonomy.
But Paul is not describing manipulation. He is describing direction.
Something controls every life.
Fear can control us. Reputation can control us. Money can control us. Old wounds can control us. Ambition can control us.
The question is not, “Am I controlled?” The question is, “What is governing me?”
For the follower of Jesus, the answer is supposed to be clear.
The love of Christ.
Not religious pressure. Not public image. Not guilt. Not performance. HIS love.
And when HIS love governs us, it does not leave us unchanged. It sends us. It makes our light visible. It calls us out of private faith and into public obedience. It teaches us that work can become worship. It reminds us that community matters because each person has a role to play. It moves us from proving ourselves to making HIM visible.
That is the word I am carrying today: Governed.
Lord Jesus, govern my words, my work, my relationships, and my heart.
